The original site was created around late 1997 / early 1887 as a personal site
containing hobbies of my and of course my favorite band. One of the subsections
was a Third Eye Blind site which quickly gained more popularity than the rest of
the site. Have only basic bio information and links about the band, I decided to
learn some more about web design and coding.
A Brad Hargreaves site was created. Originally I thought I had the only Brad site,
but I was surprise to later find that Dana has built "Good For You" either at the same
time I was building mine, or before (probably before, it's been so long I can't even remember).
The first site design was more than basic, it incorporated 3 frames with a menu on the left and a
pretty grotesque color scheme of brown/green and yellow/cream. One day Casey (webmaster of the unforgettable 3eb.net)
emailed me because he really liked my website. Some time went by and Casey convinced me to get a
domain (November 1998) to help my website stand out more from the crowd. BradHargreaves.Com was born!
BradHargreaves.com quickly gained more popularity and needed to evolve the design of the site.
I got to work on creating new designs and had some fellow fans preview them before version 2.0
was released. The new design had a darker scheme which was blue/green and an interactive java
menu with drop-down boxes. Everything was going great until I realized that some sections had
too much content to fit in the small window which popped up the version 2 site. Again, now with more
web experience at hand, I became development for version 3. I wanted to create a much bigger site
by having a bigger media and graphics base than before. Again, I previewed many of my ideas to
other fellow webmaster to see what their opinions were and what would work in the end. Some designs had
bright colors, but the final design was based more on the dark color scheme from version 2 (dark navy blue & grey menu).
Version 3 was an even bigger success than the previous designs. This was probably one of my favorite designs because
it was easy to maintain. The site quickly evolved into a media base for third eye blind fans which included Winamp Skins, Video, and some Live
Recordings of the band. In November of 2001, registration problems arose causing
the domain name (.com) to be lost to a greedy cyber-squatter company. The domain
then became inactive for a period of about 8 months when several fans were
anxious to create their own Brad Hargreaves fan sites due to the loss of the
main site.
In July of 2002, the site was resurrected as the Official Brad
Hargreaves site and placed under the domain bradhargreaves.net (pending the
skirmish of the .com extension).
Screen Shots of the old designs and some never used designs are coming as soon as I find them in my cd archive!
